When the XSLT stylesheet encounters an
xml:id attribute on an element, it
generates an XHTML anchor with an
id attribute consisting of the
original
xml:id attribute
contents prefixed with
"ref_".
This allows linking to specific elements in the resulting XHTML
documents from external locations. As an example, given an
element:
<s:term s:type="something" xml:id="a_term">Hello</s:term>
The XHTML output will be similar to:
<a id="ref_a_term"></a>
<span class="st200_term something">Hello</span>
